Ms. Gertrude Ngabirano is the Executive Secretary of the East African Science and Technology Commission (EASTECO) an institution of the East African Community. The Development Objective of EASTECO is to promote and coordinate the development, management and application of Science and Technology to support regional integration and socio-economic development. Trained in Water Resources Management and Corporate Management, Ms. Ngabirano has significant leadership and managerial experience and with over 10 years’ experience in the promotion of regional initiatives in sustainable development, policy dialogue and strategy development. She has also worked as a consultant and as an educator. She is passionate about regional integration and promoting Science, Technology and Innovation for socio-economic growth. MS Ngabirano has previously worked with the Nile Basin Initiative’s Nile equatorial lakes subsidiary action program (NELSAP) as Project Manager and the Swedish embassy as a Senior Regional Programme Manager with Sida’s Regional Team for Environment and Economic Development in Africa (REED)
